I love the nostalgia of the local roadside attractions. Sipping freshly squeezed orange juice from an independently owned orange grove stand or munching on a bag of boiled peanuts. The sweet smell of mangoes always brings back to when I was a kid and I would visit my grandparents in the Florida Keys. The neighbors across the street had a giant mango tree. The tree produced so many mangoes that the neighbors would give them away because there were too many to eat. My older brothers and I would go fill grocery bags full to take home. The skins felt soft as suede and the warm sticky juice would run down our chins as we ate them fresh off the sun-baked branches.
I love my home state and love to make art that reflects that, whether it be botanical watercolor paintings, colorful post cards, or jewelry. I love to make things with my hands. I am always dabbling in somethings that catches my interest or trying out new mediums and processes. I guess you can say I'm a jack of all trades and master of some! :D
